ISAPI levert véél meer performance dan CGI

Ik vond dit op Microsoft.com:

In IIS 5.0, Internet Server Application Programming Interface (ISAPI) applications running as in?process dynamic-link libraries (DLLs) generally offer the best performance. Next best are ASP pages, followed by Common Gateway Interface (CGI) applications.

En dat is voor IIS 6.0 niets veranderd

(tests zijn al flink verouderd, maar de trend die je ziet die geld nog altijd)

Ik draai gewoon de ISAPI module, af en toe krijg ik een "Access Violation" error, maar dat is maar heel erg incidenteel. Verder heb ik geen problemen ermee, alles wat ik gebruik werkt gewoon o.a. GD en CURL.

Ik heb nu wat meer tijd dan vanmiddag, ik zocht eigenlijk deze PDF waar ISAPI en CGI onder Windows Server 2003 uitgebreid worden getest:

As many have realized, CGI isn't very efficient, nor is it very secure

....One of the main reasons that ISAPI is more efficient than CGI is because ISAPI remains memory resident. CGI, on the other hand, unloads after it's called. Each time the CGI executable is called, the server must load the CGI process back into memory, whereas ISAPI will already be in memory and can therefore serve the request in a much faster time. For large-scale sites like EBay, ISAPI has been a savior. If EBay were to run on CGI, the burden on their servers would be nearly doubled, resulting in crashing and poor performance, and thus resulting in less business....

Ik heb geen enkel artikel kunnen vinden waar CGI 'wint' van ISAPI. Dus de keuze lijkt me niet zo moeilijk

Op gebied van performance is de keuze natuurlijk vanzelfsprekend.
Maar draait php tegenwoordig ook volledig stabiel als isapi-module?
