Onderwerp: KPN DirectInternet en Linux

I apologize for posting in English - my Dutch is not good enough for
active use yet.

I tried to connect my Linux machine (SuSE 7.2) to the internet using
wvdial and KPN DirectInternet.

I am not sure why it is not working. Any help would be appreciated.

I am posting the wvdial dialog and the relevant section of
wvdial.conf.

Could the problem be that I use KPN's BelBudget?

1) Does your line have 'NummerWeergave' (that service provides the
called party with the number that is calling them) activated ? If you
for example dial a GSM, it should display your number. It it is not,
then you should deactivate that service.

No password should be used. I'll try tonight to see what it does on my PC.

You cannot use KPN DirectInternet from outside the
Netherlands.

Do you have caller id blocked? Cause then it doesn't work

Not sure - I'll try that tonight.

wvdial forces me to use a password - if I leave it out, it prompts for
a password when I dial and terminates without connecting if I just hit
Enter without entering a password. But according to some other
information on the internet (I forgot the source), this should not
matter.
I'll check the NummerWeergave thing. This sounds like a plausible
explanation for the "Requested Service Not Authorized" messages that I
get from KPN.

You need to have calledid activated, it won't even connect with that
activated.

The interactive ppp stuff has been disabled. You can't start PPP from a
terminal session.

I could'n connect with the script you used, only with pppd and LCP
negiotiation. Look like the config using LCP is required.

I am writing this with KPN DirectInternet.

For all other users of wvdial: You must use the so-called "Stupid
Mode", then it works.
