Dell raid controllers: hardware raid?

SAS 6iR hardware RAID Controller

De Dell SAS6iR is absoluut geen hardware RAID controller (al willen ze je dat bij Dell nog weleens doen geloven), gebruikt gewoon de kracht van de server zelf. Komt zeker bij grote hoeveelheden data zeer slecht uit de bus (zelf getest).

LSI maakt soft en hardware raid controlers dus dat zegt niet zoveel. Zover ik weet is de IR bios (software) raid en de perc serie hardware.

Klopt helemaal, als je iemand bij Dell spreekt die echt technische kennis heeft zal die je dit bevestigen.

Klopt, en voor zover ik weer is deze kaart gebaseerd op een LSI SAS 1068 Adapter.

't Zou toch zo mooi zijn als iedereen dezelfde termen zou hanteren. Hostraid is al lang bekend als synoniem voor software raid.
Dit zou dus een low-spec hardware raid oplossing zijn.
