DBTECH.ORG and SecuriyTracker.org Found to be linked to Extortion
Incidents Involving Online Software Vendor Victims

The anonymous individual who runs dbtech, org has been accused of
committing crimes of extortion by at least 14 software vendors whom all
have been contacted by an individual from the company who claims to be
an "Internet Security Specialist" (admin@dbtech.org). The
individual sends software developers an email claiming to have found
security vulnerabilities in online software and offers to fix these
discovered exploits for a large fee. If ignored or denied, he/she then
posts the unfounded security exploit on several assumingly legitimate
Security Tracking websites. Many of these websites were found to be
run on servers that are hosted overseas and will not abide by U.S. law
and may even refuse to remove such false content from their web pages.

The individual hides behind aliases such as "Diabolic Crab" or
"dbcrab" and is directly affiliated with several websites such as
http://www.dbtech.org, http://www.securitytracker.com ,
http://www.hackerscenter.com

The individual has been affiliated with several aliases which have been
tracked to 2 separate locations, Raleigh, N.C. and Bethesda, M.D.

The victims have also received letters of referral which appear to be
from Microsoft, CNET, and other well known companies but do not contain
any relevant contact information and appear to have forged signatures.
If this individual contacts you regarding any alleged security
vulnerabilities on your website or in your software application, it is
advised that you forward the email to your local authorities. Remember
that legitimate security professionals such as those at McAfee, Norton,
and Microsoft do not go from site to site assuming an anonymous
identity demanding money to fix alleged security vulnerabilities in
software that they hold no claim to or have not even purchased. Buyer
beware of such reports that have only been fabricated to induce payment
from unsuspecting software developers and hold no valid authenticity.

The owner of Security Tracker is Stuart Moore. The company is
registered in the State of Maryland under the legal name of
SecurityGlobal, LLC.
His legal contact information can be found by searching the Maryland
Secretary of State Website and returns the following:
SECURITYGLOBAL.NET, LLC
9318 OCALA STREET
SILVER SPRING, MD 20901

The owner of DBTECH.ORG and HACKERSCENTER.ORG remain anonymous and
assume many different identities.

These individuals can be tracked and convicted if software developers
work together by sending any unsolicited correspondence from these
individuals to the F.B.I. It is also important to remember that these
"hackers" may comb your website poking into places seeking to
expose security holes which is illegal unless you have permitted them
to do so. You can expose these attempts by viewing your website's
log and also sending it to the authorities so that they can be tracked.

Remember also that these individuals have a highly technical vocabulary
and will attempt to waive judgment about this and any other article by
justifying their actions. However, unauthorized use, or attempts to
circumvent or bypass the security mechanisms of an information system
or network is NEVER legal and extortion is certainly not legal. The
only way to stop these perpetrators is by addressing the issue on a
case by case basis by submitting email correspondence and server logs
of hacking attempts to the following agencies:

Computer Intrusion (Hacking) Division
