CSF blokkeert vele FTP requests

Er kwam toch een kleine glimlach tevoorschijn toen ik het mailtje binnen kreeg en in de gaten had dat ik inderdaad niet meer op de betreffende server kon komen. Ik was 'temporary banned'. Geen ramp, via een andere server mijzelf weer toegang gegeven en mij direct maar in de whitelist gezet maar wat ik wel raar vond is dat dit gekomen is door vele FTP requests.

Is dit normaal? Lijkt mij ook dat klanten zo een blokkade kunnen krijgen wanneer deze vele bestanden via FTP uploaden/downloaden en dat is niet de bedoeling uiteraard!
Dit is trouwens een eigen machine, niet eentje waar klanten opzitten dus het is geen ramp maar ben wel benieuwd naar ervaringen van andere omtrent dit puntje

Je hostname staat er nog tussen, dus je IP is zo terug te vinden

LFD blokkeerd een IP als er veel verbindingen zijn, dit word als aanval gezien namelijk. Als je de config aanpast is dit te voorkomen, maar aanvallen worden minder snel geweerd.

Ja, dit is normaal. Met name als men filezilla of zo gebruikt, gaat de firewall vast werken. Als klanten ons daarover bellen: "Help mijn website is offline etc.", vertel ik vol trots dat dit het bewijs is dat onze firewall echt werkt.
En vraag hen hun IP adres(sen) door te geven, dan zet ik die in de firewall.
We hebben dat op meerdere shared hostingservers op staan. In het begin belde er geregeld iemand, maar na verloop van enkele weken, stond blijkbaar iedereen keurig in de whitelist.

je kan de max open connections aanpassen via CT_LIMIT

Ja ik gebruik filezilla maar als het normaal is maak ik mij verder niet zo druk. Misschien dat ik het aantal connecties wat hoger instel

En is dat niet ontzettend veel werk? Voor mij geen optie in ieder geval of je zou het moeten kunnen automatiseren.
Vraag me ook af als je dat uberhaubt alle ip's van klanten wel wilt whitelisten...

Zoals Daniel zegt. Het zou eigenlijk het beste zijn als je het per service zou kunnen instellen maar dat kan geloof ik niet (heb het nog niet gevonden in ieder geval).

Wij maken ook gebruik van CSF/LFD en ondervinden verder geen problemen met FTP o.i.d.
Enkel foutieve loginpogingen wordt bij ons na 10x geblokkeerd, wij zetten verder ook geen klanten op de whitelist.

Af en toe krijgen wij een email, 'mijn website is plat', terwijl blijkt dat er minimaal 10x een foutief wachtwoord/gebruikersnaam is gebruikt. (meestal gebruikt men dan de standaard windows methode die ingelogd met 'anonymous').
