MS DTC transaction coordinator

Hallo,

Een klant van ons maakt gebruik van MS DTC. Nu bij het overzetten van een DB naar een andere server krijg ik problemen, omdat die betreffende servercombinatie ( webserver / SQL2005 server) dit niet heeft ingesteld. Ik kan op de MS paginas wel vinden hoe dit is in te stellen, maar zie nergens staan of dit ook veiligheidsproblemen kan geven.

Kan iemand mij ook uitleggen, waar transaction coordinator precies voor wordt gebruikt, en of het kwaad kan dit op een webserver /sql 2005 server combinatie in te schakelen ( shared hosting )

"msdtc.exe" belongs to Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator. The Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator is a transaction manager which permits client applications to include several different sources of data in one transaction and which then coordinates committing the distributed transaction across all the servers that are enlisted in the transaction. MSDTC runs on all Windows platforms and is installed by applications which need to use it, such as the Microsoft"s Personal Web Server, or Microsoft SQL Server.

Lijkt mij dat eventuele security door de applicaties wordt afgehandeld. 'k Zou het wel dicht zetten voor toegang van buiten af en op IP toe staan.
