Hello,
I am from Germany and visit a town near Brussels for a week. I have a
notebook with a surfstick. In Germany you can buy a dayly surfing
flatrate for 1.50 - 2 Euro or monthly flat for 15 to 20 Euro prepaid.
The SIM-card of the providers you can plug into the surfstick. I do
not need the card for phonecalls. Is something like that available in
Belgium and where can I buy it in Brussels or online?

Some cities. The only places I've been able to see HSDPA is Antwerp and the
airport. Allegedly, they've also deployed it in the far west somewhere, but
that's a bit out of the way.

In Germany Base is the worst provider at mobile internet. At places,
where EDGE is available, the speed is compareable to GSM. They want to
tell us, that they have EDGE all over Germany. But this is not true.
At many places in my region I have only GSM, which means in the case
of Base only about 25 KBIT/sec (not KBYTE/sec) and the connection
often breaks down. That is half of an analog modem. You have to wate
a minute or more for one webside. There were only two towns, where I
could get with UMTS in the best case about 250 KBIT/sec. Thats why I
changed to the provider vodafone. Now I do not find a place in my
region less than 150 KBIT/sec. And in EVERY small town I can get with
HSDPA 4000 KBIT/sec now.
It seems as if Base in Belgium offers the mobile internet only for
smartphones, but not for notebooks. Further I only found it as an
option of an existing contract, but not as prepaid.
