Bekijk Volledige Versie : MSN down ? or route broken ? Level3 down ?
MSN / Hotmail seems to be down .
However some facts are intriguing.
From Easynet the route goes thru level3 and gets lost.
From #shell the route seems to reach msn, but loginnet.passport.com is unresponsive.
Who's the fault ?

As the trace goes clearly outside of your providers place, the fault
must be on the other side. However M$ stops the trace on their side, so
the trace does NOT clearly state that the site is down, only that it can
not be traced. Try to suft to http://www.houghi.org (You will be
transferd to an other site) the tray to trace or to ping it.
To test it, open a terminal or doswindow and type
'telnet www.hotmail.com 80' You will the see that it is connected or
you will get other info.
The site hotmail is up and running. Just check your settings and see if
you can get to other sites or to 64.4.32.7, 64.4.33.7 and 64.4.52.7
Here the proof that the site is up (for those who know ahet it means)

OK with you, but does loginnet answer to your telnet on port 80 ? Not here.
I had an excellent other source for launching such tests, but the site is now stripped
down (www.samspade.org). Sigh.

Nope. This means probs on THEIR side. Not at hotmail or MSN but on
passport.net (I hope they did not forget to pay Internic like the last
time. hotmail went down because they forgot to pay 70USD or the like.

reconnecten eer ie online geraakt is

Had verder
niks met de clients te maken.
Mvg,
Chris.
Indeed everything OK since this morning. Thank you.
Level3 seems to be permanently blocking the traceroute.

It Is either M$ it self or by request from M$ that the trace is blocked.

Considering the number of wheels Microsoft has found reason
to invent, one never ceases to be baffled by the minuscule
number whose shape even vaguely resembles a circle.
