1 Introduction
We will deliver Internet solutions to ISPs and non profit organisations. We will
deploy a infrastructure optimized for webhosting and streaming media over the
Internet. These systems will be connected to Internet Exchanges initially in
Europe and later also in the U.S.A. From these systems connections will be made
to the networks of consumer ISPs to provide webhosting, gameservers and
real-time delivery of near-DVD quality video content.

The infrastructure will initially be rolled out to Frankfurt, Amsterdam, London
and Stockholm and will be based on a hosted solution. Either a different hosting
provider for each city will be selected or one provider can be selected that can
offer a solution for all four cities. The response to this RFQ should be priced
on a per-city basis to allow for a full cost comparison for the different
solutions. All prices should be given in Euros and, except for one time
installation costs, as monthly fees.
This document lists the main requirements for this hosted solution from a
colocation, connectivity, and operations view. Hosting providers are kindly
asked to answer this questionaire and send their response in this forum before
februari 14th if they would like to participate in a second selection round of
short-listed potential suppliers.

Note: this specific questionare is limited to Amsterdam, Redbus Interhouse only.
We operate our own AS number and routers. We connect the four cities with our
own infrastructure.

2 Server requirements
In Redbus Interhouse initially ten (10) cabinets are required but the overall
solution should be scalable to many more cabinets. The prefered solution are
cabinets that are installed and maintained by the hosting provider and rented to
us. We should have full control over the access to this cabinets and be able to
install its own servers.

Each cabinet should have a minimum configuration of:
60cm x 80 cm, 42 units high. UPS and Generator feeds. A and B feed. 8A per feed.
12 power connections per feed.

Question 2: Please provide the monthly cost of renting one cabinet in Amsterdam,
Redbus Interhouse.

3 Connectivity

We will stream high bandwidth content to the customers of consumer broadband
ISPs. High quality, low cost connectivity to these ISPs is thus of great
importance. Connectivity should be provided on an unthrottled full-duplex
fast-ethernet (100 or 1000 mbit) connection. Bandwidth should be charged monthly
for the used megabit/s of traffic.
We anticipate that hosting providers can provide an attractive price for
bandwidth if we rent a cabinet in a city and transmit traffic from that cabinet
to ISPs with which the hosting provider has a peering relation (possibly via a
public Internet Exchange) in that city. The questions in this section of the RFQ
are based on that assumption.
Question 3: Please list the top 5 consumer broadband ISPs (name + AS) for the
Netherlands, Amsterdam, Redbus Interhouse with who you have a direct peering
connection (possibly via a public Internet Exchange).
Question 3a: Please list your transit providers.
Question 4: Please show that your connections are not congested.
Question 5: Please list the price per megabyte/s 95% usage and average usage for
traffic going from a cabinet in Amsterdam to peers connected in that city or
vice versa (peering traffic).
Question 6: Please list for Amsterdam the price per megabit/s 95% usage and
average usage for non-peering traffic (transit)

4 Operations
For a correction operation of our distributed infrastructure we need a quality
managed hosting provider.
Question 7: Is your network pro-activily managed 24x7?
Question 8: Please list the operations contact for Amsterdam that is available
24x7 for emergency situations
Question 9: Please provide the time to repair if there is a failure in one of
your routers or switches.
We need to optimize our content routing based on BGP tables to maximize the
quality of our content delivery while minimizing the cost for bandwidth.
Question 10: Can you provide weekly dumps of the BGP routing tables of the
routers to which your peerings are installed so we can determine which ISPs you
have peerings with and thus which IP address ranges can be routed trough your
infrastructure for the price of peering traffic?
Question 11: Please list the (expected) availability of the solution proposed in
your answer to this RFQ for Amsterdam, Redbus Interhouse.

5 Summary
Hosting providers are kindly asked to provide the answer to this RFQ by februari
14th. Responses should be send in this forum. Based on the solutions and offered
prices a shortlist will be created. A second round selection will be made for
these short listed providers.

Waarom alleen maar Redbus ? Anders had ik wel een leuke aanbieding kunnen maken.

Orders van deze grootte zijn maatwerk oplossingen waarbij er een volledige totaaloplossing neergezet moet worden op basis van jullie wensen. In principe zijn 10 cabinets best leuk, maar er is meer onder de zon. Wat is jullie budget? Waar willen jullie met name traffic weg gaan zetten, wat zijn jullie groeiverwachtingen, welke apparatuur willen jullie gebruiken (Switching, routing etc.), willen jullie additionele services zoals managed network, backup?

Daarnaast is het voor beide partijen te adviseren om te weten met wie je in zee gaat en face to face en onsite te zien wat de opties zijn. De specefieke keuze voor Redbus Interhouse is erg beperkt, aangezien Amsterdam een groot aantal datacentra kent die dezelfde, danwel een betere kwaliteit en servicing als Redbus kunnen bieden, uiteraard in combinatie met de servicing vanuit de leverende partij.

Op basis hiervan zouden diverse partijen een leuke aanbieding voor je moeten kunnen samenstellen.

Onze huidige infrastructuur ligt al in Redbus Interhouse, Onze opinie is dat Redbus een uitmuntende service geeft aan haar klanten. Andere datacentra zoals GlobalSwitch, Nova Access en InterXion voldoen niet aan onze service en kwaliteitseisen.

Hierover valt niet te onderhandelen, wij willen uitsluitend aanbiedingen voor Redbus Interhouse in Amsterdam.

Uiteraard vragen we hier om een beperkte hoeveelheid informatie, onze tweede selectieronde zal meer persoonlijk plaatsvinden.

We schatten de dataverkeer gebruik na oplevering op onmiddelijk 80 megabit/s 95% gebruik.
Een drietal klanten met voornamelijk live streams zullen overgezet worden.

Wie geen aanbieding doet in dit forum zal niet worden geshortlist. Uiteraard volgt in de shortlist periode een persoonlijk gesprek. Hiervoor moeten een tweetal collegas uit de VS komen.

Ik kan me indenken dat providers hier op het forum geen aanbiedingen gaan doen aangezien er vrij veel vertrouwelijke informatie wordt gevraagd. Wellicht kan je eerst aangeven hoe zeker het is dat je 10 cabinets + 80 mbit nodig hebt.

Als dat realistisch is, moet dit geen probleem zijn.

We zetten binnenkort een drietal Amerikaanse Live stream klanten over. Zij gebruiken 80 megabit/s (95%) en een viertal cabinets.

Kan je aangeven welke stream services worden gebruikt, wij kunnen hier een waarschijnlijk wel een zeer goede aanbieding voor doen toekomen

when reading your rfq i am wondering why you would be needing
the services of one of us.

you have routers that can do bgp and high speeds so that part is
covered. when you can pay those routers you can also afford to
buy 10 racks.

as a redbus customer you get discounts when you rent space with
other redbus data centers

with an as number you can join the ams-ix association and get all
the peering you want

so why do you need us? just for local hands when something goes wrong?

Het kan interessant voor u zijn om gewoon rechstreeks bij Redbus te gaan huren. Het netwerk kunt u dan zelf verzorgen.

De meeste ISP's accepteren namelijk niet dat u voor uw eigen netwerk, etc. gaat zorgen binnen hun suite/ruimte.

Wij wel, we ondersteunen het zelfs.
