Hello,
I am looking for a good NL data center where I can get gigabit dedicated server. My requirement are the following:

PROCESSOR: Pentium 3.2Ghz+ OR similar AMD
MEMORY: 1GB or above with at least 667 mhz
HDD: 3TB or above
Data traffic: 5TB or above
OS: Debian

Need to be real duplex gigabit. Need good routing to and from western European countries. 90% of traffic will be used in Europe and remaining 10% in USA. I am mainly concerned about the peering and the speed. If anyone has any good offer please reply or feel free to send an estimate in my email. If the performance is good then I may sign up to 3 servers.

P.S.: My budget is ~300 euro but price can be negotiated if its a good offer, so feel free to quote if you have anything within 500 euro.

I would recommend a server with some WD Raptor Harddiscs or SCSI discs (10k+ rpm) & fast RAM memory if you want to run it with this speed. And/Or you could take RAID 0 (Stripe), thats faster than 1 harddisc.


And I think alot of people want to know if you want Windows Server or Linux.

Thanks for the reply. Thats what I have in mind about the raid and about the hard drive you mentioned, I wasnt quite sure what to specify but now I can edit it for WD Raptor Harddiscs.

One little thing...If you want 3TB storage, and you take WD Raptors, you need ehh 20 (WD150GB) Harddiscs, so I think that your budget is too low for that.

How much of a difference will the raptor drives make when compared to SATA II drives? I have never used them myself. If there is no significant difference then I think I can live with sata 2 drives as you mentioned in your post that the raptor drives will make the server much much more expensive and I cant really afford that.

Ok, I think SATA2 will make it cheaper, but still, why do you need 3TB of storage?

I dont think that normale people can offer you a 3TB Server and 5TB of traffic for that budget, you have to contact elcatel or swiftway, maybe they can do you a offer..

Cheap mbits are from 20 to 30euro 1mbit = ±250GB if you do 20 x 20euro = already 400euro and then you only have traffic calculate the server and you might need a budget of more then 600euro..
