JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a full-time Systems Administrator who can work well in a team as well as independently. Working primarily on Linux based servers, supporting a wide range of services, such as NNTP, VPN, HTTP, DNS, storage etc. You will work to resolve both hardware and software issues while ensuring customer services are not impacted. Another aspect is to create and maintain scripts to make this job easier. You will participate in an on call out of hours rotation schedule, where you will be the main contact for any issues. If an issue is not able to be fixed remotely you will be required to attend sites out of hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Install and maintain systems and software on various Linux distributions primarily Ubuntu and Centos
Handle issues reported via our Network Operations Center and escalating where necessary. You will also work with other teams on these escalated issues.
Document solutions to share with other team members

REQUIRED PERSONAL SKILLS:

Bilingual Dutch/English (Working mostly in English)
A Driving license (B Category) held for at least 2 years
A strong sense of responsibility
A strong desire to learn and improve
Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills
An ability to work independently and as part of a team
Able to handle multiple projects and tasks
Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
Demonstrated ability to think creatively and communicate accurately

EXPERIENCE:

Demonstrated knowledge of networking fundamentals and common commands, a working knowledge of applications and services that utilize these protocols: SSH, NNTP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP
Programming, esp. bash shell scripting experience (ability to write scripts quickly without assistance)
Demonstrated ability working with Linux shell, admin commands and system utilities
Troubleshooting and resolving customer or operational issues
Developing, teaching and automating operational processes
Demonstrated experience in managing multi-vendor Linux server system installations

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

Working knowledge of storage system (JBOD, RAID, NFS) configuration, systems logging, and exception diagnosis
Demonstrated knowledge of Perl and/or PHP programming techniques as related to Internet applications design, network management and systems management
Familiarity with software and systems testing and debugging
Experience writing technical documents and procedures for engineering groups

EDUCATION:

HBO/Bachelor’s degree and/or Linux System Administration or Networking certifications
Equivalent Industry experience will also be considered
