We're looking for a new Software Engineer to join our Database Team. The RIPE Database serves WHOIS data to millions of unique daily visitors. The software is completely open-source and Java is the biggest part of the stack.

As an engineer in the Database Team you will have the opportunity to implement awesome features and dive into solving big problems daily. You will be a part of the team that shapes the technical future of the RIPE Database and you will have the opportunity to work on services that are fundamental to the operational aspect of the Internet.
This position is based at our offices in the centre of Amsterdam.

  • Using the full stack, including MySQL, Java and front-end

  • Communicating and working in an agile environment


We think it would be extra cool if you could contribute:

  • Knowledge about distributed database setup
  • Knowledge about alternative data stores, for instance Hadoop
  • Input as to how we can improve our open-source initiative

The RIPE Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) is one of five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) providing Internet resource allocations, registration services and coordination activities that support the operation of the Internet globally. The organisation is set up as a not-for-profit association and the working language is English. The environment is internationally orientated, with staff from more than 20 countries.

Salary:
The annual salary for this position is between €48.748 and €60.912 (before tax). This includes the standard 8% annual "holiday pay" and a 5% end-of-year bonus. Monthly salary is between €3.595 and €4.492 (before tax).
